A DAY IN THE FRENCH COUNTRYSIDE

France is one of the most popular tourist destinations in the world.  While most people think Paris when they think France, there are so many other destinations around the country.  You can spend weekend skiing in the French Alps or the Pyrenees, or you can visit the Mediterranean in the South or the Atlantic in the North.

I’m a city girl at heart, but throughout my time in France I’ve come to discover that I really appreciate a weekend in the countryside. Not only are the views stunning, the people are especially welcoming.  I lived in the countryside in Auvergne (region in central France) for a few months during 2014 and this past weekend I visited the countryside in Southern France.

It was an overcast day and the fog hanging over the mountains was beautiful. Inside the stone house wild boar and potatoes were cooking over the wood burning fire that warmed us up right away.  There are a few things that are important in France and taking the time to enjoy a long lunch is one of them. It was a fun afternoon getting to know new people, tasting new foods, and seeing another part of the country!
